E-learning Launched In Imus City
The Division of Imus City in partnership with the city government launched an E-learning system—a move to embrace technology and go beyond conventional teaching—for the benefit of 21st century learners in a program coinciding with the division fellowship of teachers held in Imus Sports Complex on Dec. 12.
In cooperation with the Philippine-Australia Distribution Services Limited Inc., the project was initiated by distributing LCD projectors, screens, audio-visual equipment and Academic Fitness Software to elementary and secondary public schools across the city and free conduct of E-learning trainings to teachers.
The city division has also started implementing the use of bubble sheets every periodical examination to familiarize the students with the format being used in the National Achievement Test (NAT) and others.
Through alternative and innovative means, City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi and Schools Division Superintendent Dr.Lualhati O. Cadavedo envision E-learning as a tool to upgrade the quality of education among Imuseño students.
“Sa bisa po ng ating E-learning, maaasahan nating mas makakasabay na ang mga mag-aaral na Imuseño sa hamon ng mundo,” Maliksi said.
He also announced his second project – the installation of a Public WI-FI to cover the whole city in partnership with Mr.Jovencio G. Tacio, Piso-Net Café president.
Dr.Cadavedo, meanwhile, expressed her warmest gratitude to the support the neophyte division has received and responded by encouraging teachers to embrace and support the program.
“Matuto na po tayong gumamit ng computer, laptop at internet. Let’s make education in Imus learner-centered and output-oriented,” Cadavedo said.
Also present in the event was OIC-Regional Director Dr.Diosdado M. San Antonio who commended the collaboration of stakeholders and enumerated benefits of E-learning “as a tool for transforming the educational landscape.”
“We should focus on collaboration more than cooperation and participation. The educational system should be a system of highly motivated individuals committed to achieve a common goal. Together, Everyone Achieves More,” San Antonio said.
